WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – New data is out on retail sales in Whatcom County, and the fluctuations look to be a mixed bag.

Washington’s Department of Revenue has released data on what retail sales looked like throughout the state at the end of last year.

Whatcom County saw a minor bump between the end of 2023 and end of 2024: an over 2.2% increase in revenue. The cities throughout the region saw losses and gains between the two end-of-year time frames.

Everson and unincorporated Whatcom County saw the biggest jump of over 9% and over 7% respectively. Nooksack and Sumas saw the biggest losses at nearly 8% and almost 5% respectively.

Ferndale also saw losses as well at the end of the year, but to a lesser extent.

Bellingham, Blaine and Lynden stayed roughly the same in the year-over-year comparison, with the seat of the county seeing a nearly 1.6% increase in total revenue.
