BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham’s newest healthcare center for individuals experiencing homelessness has set its official opening.
Unity Care NW announced on Nov. 8 that The Way Station’s Health and Hygiene Center will open its doors on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The Way Station, located at 1500 N. State St., will offer hygiene services including showers, laundry and restrooms for those in need.
Starting on Nov. 19, it will also provide a range of basic health services such as testing for illnesses, vaccines, health monitoring and treatment options for substance use disorders. Those health and hygiene services will be available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The other half of the Way Station will be used as a respite center for patients who are discharged from the hospital with nowhere to go. Complete with 24/7 staffing, it will allow visitors to heal and recuperate in one of its many beds.
The respite center is set to open in early 2025.
