OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Tens of thousands of Washington businesses will soon be subject to an expanded sales tax.
The state Department of Revenue says that beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 1, the retail sales tax will apply to a handful of previously exempt services.
Those include digital advertising companies, certain live presentations, information and technology services, and temporary staffing.
My Bellingham Now previously reported that the state is grappling with a projected $15 billion shortfall in its budget.
The new tax is expected to impact over 90,000 businesses across the state.
