WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The newly elected Whatcom County Charter Review Commission will hold its first meeting next week.

The county says the commission, which is elected every ten years to review the county charter, will hold its first meeting on Monday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. in the County Council Chambers in downtown Bellingham.

In November, voters elected three members from each council district to serve on the commission. Public input is strongly encouraged, and meetings are open to the public.

The county charter, which is similar to a constitution, lays out the county’s powers, structure and election processes.
