BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham Police officer accused of domestic violence and sexual assault will not be facing any charges.
The Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, which is handling the case against Sgt. Joshua McKissick, made the decision on Tuesday, May 21. Prosecuting attorney Branden Platter says that they won’t be pursuing any charges due to insufficient evidence.
Court documents state that a person known to McKissick filed several police reports and was granted a protection order against him in February. McKissick has been on paid administrative leave from BPD since that order was granted.
The case was moved to Skagit County to prevent bias and conflicts of interest.
It’s unclear if and when McKissick will return to patrol duty.
Another hearing regarding the protection order is set for this Friday, May 24.
