SAN JUAN COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com.) – A Washington county is rejoining an environmental monitoring agency.

The Northwest Clean Air Agency (NWCAA) says that the agency will be reporting data for San Juan County starting on July 1, 2025.

At its founding in 1967, the county was a part of the Northwest Air Pollution Agency along with Whatcom, Skagit and Island Counties. But they withdrew their membership from the agency in the early 1980’s for unspecified reasons.

Their rejoining will allow the NWCAA to add more members to its Board of Directors and Advisory Council.

All of the new positions will be filled by people from San Juan County.
