He now leads the majors with 31 home runs, making him the first switch-hitter ever to hit more than 30 before the All-Star break. Cal only needs four more to match Ken Griffey Jr. for the most before the break in Mariners history, with 20 games left to go.
He led a potent offensive attack for Seattle over the weekend, with the team combining for 30 runs over the three games. It capped off with their highest scoring game of the season yesterday, a 14-6 win over the Cubs to clinch the series. Donovan Solano and Dominic Canzone provided plenty of help from the bottom of the lineup with two home runs apiece.
The M’s now sit five games back from the Astros for first place in the AL West. They’ll look to make more headway today in the first of their four-game series against the Twins in Minneapolis.

Veleno, meanwhile, had 8 goals and 9 assists last season split between the Red Wings and Blackhawks.
