Mariners News
A former Mariner helped his new team sweep the M’s earlier today. Eugenio Suarez hit a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning to get the Arizona Diamondbacks a 5-2 win over Seattle in the final game of their series.
The M’s took an early lead off an RBI single by Jorge Polanco and solo home run by Donovan Solano. But the D-Backs struck back in the sixth with Geno’s grand slam and another insurance homer to secure the win.
Bryan Woo was aces up until that disastrous sixth inning, which made him fall to 5-4 on the season. Julio Rodriguez led the charge at the plate for the Mariners with three hits, but the team went just 1-11 with runners in scoring position.
Seattle now has a losing record for the first time since April 15. They sit 3.5 games back from the first-place Astros and just half a game above the third-place Angels.
The Mariners have the day off tomorrow before returning home to play the Cleveland Guardians on Friday.
