Mariners News
The Mariners are looking to win their third straight tonight in Game 2 against the Royals. The M’s are coming off a 6-2 win over KC last night thanks to a pair of home runs by Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh’s MLB-leading 33rd homer. Cal became just the fifth player in MLB history to reach 33 home runs before the end of June.
George Kirby gave up just one run on three hits and no walks through six innings to earn his second win of the season.
The M’s will look to keep it going at T-Mobile tonight with Emerson Hancock on the mound. Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.
Time’s running out to make sure the Big Dumper is starting in the Midsummer Classic. Phase 2 of All-Star voting closes at 9 am tomorrow. Cal still had a sizeable lead over Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk in the latest update shared by the MLB earlier today. Click here to submit your ballot.
Bells News
The Bells lost to the Kelowna Falcons 6-4 last night in their second-half opener. The Falcons scored all six of their runs in the first four innings and the Bells’ late comeback effort fell just short. Brock Sell and Noah Meffert each had three hits, including Meffert’s first home run of the season.
Fortunately for Bellingham, the Wenatchee AppleSox lost their game to Kamloops, meaning if Wenatchee loses one of their next two games, the Bells are first-half champions of the North Division and clinch a playoff spot.
In the meantime, the Bells will look to get even with the Falcons in Game 2 tonight. First pitch is at 6:35 from Kelowna.
