College Football News
The rebuilding Pac-12 is officially good to go for the 2026 season. Texas State announced today that it’s joining the new version of the Pac-12, making it the eighth and final football-playing school the conference needed to maintain its status in the FBS. The Bobcats will leave the Sun Belt Conference, where they’ve been for over a decade.
Holdovers Washington State and Oregon State previously joined forces with five departing Mountain West schools to rebuild the Pac-12. Gonzaga joined as the eighth, but since it doesn’t have a football program, the conference needed one more school, which Texas State just filled.
The reconfigured Pac-12 is set to officially launch on July 1, 2026.
Mariners
The Mariners held on to win a wild series against the Rangers over the weekend. The M’s edged Texas 6-4 in 12 innings yesterday, making it the third game of their series that went to extras. It’s the first major league series of at least three games to have every game go to extras since May 2015. Mitch Garver had a career day in yesterday’s win with three hits and four RBI, including a game-sealing 2-run homer in the 12th.
A few days before, it was Miles Mastrobuoni who played hero for the M’s. He made an incredible game-saving catch on Friday to extend Game 1 against the Rangers, then hit a go-ahead RBI single in the 12th to give them the win. Seattle won that series opener 7-6 before dropping the middle game 3-2 in 10 innings on Saturday.
The Mariners are still 6.5 games behind the Astros for first place in the division, but now have a two-game lead for the final wild card spot in the American League. They’ll look to keep up the momentum tonight in Kansas City tonight for the first of their four-game series against the Royals.
Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG with George Kirby taking the mound.
Bells News
The Bells got a series sweep over the weekend to cap off the first half of their season. They beat the Kamloops NorthPaws 4-2 yesterday to complete the road sweep and maintain their place atop the North Division. Ty Van Dyke had seven strikeouts across three scoreless innings in yesterday’s win.
The Bells own an 18-9 record after the first half of their season and currently sit half a game over the Wenatchee AppleSox for first place in the North. They now await the finish of Wenatchee’s next three games that will determine the first half winner in the North with a guaranteed playoff spot on the line.
In the meantime, the Bells are back on the road today for the start of their three-game series against the Kelowna Falcons. They’ll be back at home this Friday against Port Angeles.
Sonics News
The Sounders returned to MLS action on Saturday night. Jesús Ferreira and Danny Musovski scored midway through the match and Seattle beat Austin FC 2-0 to move into fifth place in the Western Conference. Ferreira was assisted by Paul Rothrock, with a second assist by Albert Rusnák. That assist made Rusnák the 13th player in MLS history to record 65 career goals and 65 career assists.
It was the Sounder’s first match of the second half of the MLS season. They’re back at home next Sunday against Columbus.
Storm News
The Storm fell to the Golden State Valkyries 84-57 over the weekend. Skylar Diggins had 18 points and 6 assists, but Seattle came up short again against the WNBA’s newest franchise.
The good news is that Storm forward Nneka Ogwumike was announced today as an All-Star starter. It’s the 10th All-Star selection of her career, good for the third-most in league history.
In more WNBA news, the league announced that it’s adding three new teams over the next five years. Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia are all expected to join the league by 2030. Each team paid a $250 million expansion fee, which is about five times as much as the Golden State Warriors dished out for the Valkyries a few years ago.
Toronto and Portland are already set to enter the WNBA next year.
Kraken News

It marks the fourth time in the Kraken’s five-year history that they’ve drafted a center in the first round.

The Seahawks will travel to play the new-look Steelers in Week 2.
