The Seahawks are gearing up for their first NFC Championship game in over a decade. They’re hosting the LA Rams on Sunday in their trilogy matchup with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.

The Hawks are coming off a 41-6 romping of the 49ers, while the Rams edged the Bears 20-17 in overtime on Sunday.

Seattle announced that running back Zach Charbonnet will miss the rest of the playoffs with a torn ACL.

LA will be eying revenge after falling to Seattle in a Thursday night thriller just last month.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 3:30 from Lumen Field.

Meanwhile, the NFL’s head coaching carousel is off and running.

ESPN reports that the Tennessee Titans have hired former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. The Miami Dolphins also hired Packers DC Jeff Hafley and the Atlanta Falcons have hired former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.

The Bills just started their search for a new top dog, after firing Sean McDermott following their Saturday loss to the Broncos.

College Football News

The dust has settled and college football has a new champion.

Indiana beat Miami 27-21 last night to complete its undefeated season. Heisman winner and projected #1 NFL draft pick Fernando Mendoza threw for 186 yards and ran in a dramatic touchdown in the win.

It was the Hoosiers’ first national title in program history.

Mariners News

The Mariners have agreed to a deal with one of their top starters.

The M’s announced today that they will not be going to arbitration with Bryce Miller after reaching a contract agreement. The MLB Network reports Miller will have a roughly $2.5 million salary for 2026 with a club option for 2027 at just over $6 million.

He’s the seventh, and final, arbitration-eligible player the Mariners have locked down this offseason.

Kraken News

The Kraken are back down in their rollercoaster of a season.

Seattle fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 last night in the first leg of their homestand at Climate Pledge. It was their fourth straight loss and sixth in the last seven games.

They’re now bumped just outside the playoff picture, with the 9th best record in the Western Conference.

Seattle will look to rebound against the Islanders tomorrow night. Coverage begins at 6:00 and puck drops at 6:30 on KGMI.

HS Volleyball News

Lynden Christian is on the lookout for a new volleyball coach.

Cascadia Daily News reports that Dennis Janzen has stepped down from the role at LC after two seasons.

Janzen went 32-15 with two district championships while leading the Lyncs to 5th and 7th place finishes at state. He plans to travel across the world with his wife and work on a book about famous U.S. volleyball players over the next few years.  

Janzen has previously coached with the U.S. Men’s National Team and the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team.

HS Basketball News

Taking a look at high school basketball scores from last night…

The Lummi Nation boys beat Issaquah 77-66.

The Bellingham girls lost to Mount Vernon 68-38.

The Bayhawk boys also fell to Mount Vernon 67-54.

The Blaine girls beat Oak Harbor 50-42.

And the Blaine boys lost to Oak Harbor 72-52.

 

Coming up tonight, high school basketball is back on the radio when the Sehome boys host Ferndale. It will be a matchup between two of the top scorers in Whatcom County with the Golden Eagles’ Mantaj Singh and the Mariners’ Xavier Kelley.

Coverage begins at 7:00 and tipoff is at 7:15 on KPUG with Jason Upton and Rick Todd on the call.
