Seahawks News
The Seahawks are bringing in a familiar face for their second quarterback addition of the offseason. ESPN reports backup QB Drew Lock is expected to sign with Seattle for his second stint with the team. He returns after spending last year with the New York Giants, where he went 1-4 in five starts with six touchdowns and five interceptions. Before that, he spent two seasons in Seattle backing up Geno Smith. The 28-year-old will come in as a potential backup to new addition Sam Darnold, leaving Sam Howell’s future with the team in question.
Mariners News
The Mariners are back for the start of a key series against a division rival. Bryce Miller will be facing off against 2x Cy Young award winner Jacob deGrom in tonight’s series opener against the Texas Rangers at T-Mobile. DeGrom won back-to-back Cy Youngs with the Mets in 2018 and 2019, but has battled injuries since signing with the Rangers. The 37-year-old made just nine starts over the previous two seasons for Texas. Miller, meanwhile, has struggled in his first two starts of the season, giving up seven runs over 11 innings. He’ll need to be on his A-Game for the Mariners to defeat the AL West-leading Rangers. Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.
A Mariners legend is roaming the greens of Augusta National for the Masters, but not as a spectator. Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. is a credentialed photographer at this year’s Masters. The former Mariners center fielder has shot photos at the Super Bowl and World Series in the past, but is behind the lens at the Masters for the first time in his career. It’s not his first time at the Masters, however, as he played in the event a few years ago.
Kraken News
The Kraken fell to the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 last night in their final road game of the season. Jared McCann kept up his late-season hot streak and scored Seattle’s sole goal of the game, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Vegas, who inched closer to clinching the Pacific Division with the win. It was the Kraken’s second straight loss after getting hammered by Utah earlier this week. They’ll look to collect themselves ahead of their final homestand of the season. It starts tomorrow night against the St. Louis Blues before their season finale against Nashville on Tuesday. Coverage for tomorrow night’s game begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KPUG.
Sounders/Reign News
The Sounders return to play tomorrow night in a road match against FC Dallas. Seattle will look to snap its five-game winless streak. The team is coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to San Diego last weekend. The Sounders rank 12th in the Western Conference with 6 points, while Dallas is tied for 5th place with 11 points. Tomorrow’s match starts at 5:30 from Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Reign are returning to action for the first time in nearly two weeks. They’re hosting the Orlando Pride at 4:30 tomorrow
Storm News
It’s decision time for the Seattle Storm as the WNBA Draft grows near. UConn star Page Buckers is expected to be the first overall pick for the Dallas Wings after leading the Huskies to a championship last weekend. The Storm have the second overall pick in Monday’s draft. They acquired the pick earlier this year in a trade that sent star guard Jewell Loyd to the Las Vegas Aces.
Several mock drafts have the Storm choosing Dominique Malonga, a 6-foot-6 center from France. She’s played in France’s top pro women’s league since she was 15 and was featured on France’s Olympic team last summer. She could add to a strong Seattle frontcourt that already includes Ezi Magbegor and Nneka Ogwumike. Meanwhile, Yakima native Hailey Van Lith is expected to go in the late-first to early-second round.
