The Mariners are trying to win their first road game of the season tonight in Cincinnati. The M’s are riding a four-game win streak after sweeping the Texas Rangers and besting the Houston Astros in a pair of key divisional series. Cal Raleigh has been on a tear at the plate after hitting a home run in all three of last weekend’s games against the Rangers. It coincides with the team receiving its order of the new torpedo bats that have taken the league by storm.

The Mariners are facing a Reds club that has won three straight themselves. Both teams are looking to get their head above .500 with identical 8-8 records. Coverage for tonight’s series opener begins at 2:30 and first pitch is at 3:40 on KPUG.

The Kraken’s season is coming to a close tonight. Seattle’s hosting the LA Kings in their final game of the regular season. The Kings have already clinched a playoff spot, while the Kraken were eliminated from postseason contention weeks ago. Seattle has turned it up in this final stretch of the season to win four of its last six games, including a thrilling shootout win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. They’ll look to head into the offseason on a high note. But it won’t be easy against a streaking Kings team that has won seven of their last eight. The Storm came out of the WNBA Draft with an international sensation to bolster their frontcourt. Seattle took French center Dominique Malonga with the second pick of last night’s draft. The 19-year-old was the youngest player on France’s Olympic team that took home silver last summer and became the first French female to dunk.

Standing 6-foot-6, Malonga will bring more size to a Storm frontcourt that already includes former All-Stars Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor. She’s the highest pick the Storm have made since taking Breanna Stewart first overall in 2016. Seattle also snagged Kansas State point guard Serena Sundell in the second round, brother of Seahawks offensive lineman Jalen Sundell.

The Storm’s season tips off on May 17.

Meanwhile, Yakima native and Cashmere High School alum Hailey Van Lith was taken 11th overall by the Chicago Sky. She’ll get a chance to learn the ropes from another Washington point guard in 5x All-Star Courtney Vandersloot, who hails from Kent.

And former University of Washington star forward Dalayah Daniels was picked 24th overall by the Minnesota Lynx. Daniels is the sixth Husky to be taken in the draft and the first since Kelsey Plum went No. 1 overall in 2017.

A powerhouse in Whatcom County prep sports is under new leadership. Lynden Christian announced that girls basketball coach Brady Bomber will take over as athletic director. Bomber has led the Lyncs girls to four state titles since joining the team in 2014. It follows the retirement of Brenda Terpstra after nearly 20 years as AD at Lynden Christian.
