Laurie Lynn Teehan passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 4th.
Laurie was the most beautiful and brightest of shining stars, both in her personal and professional life. She was born in 1967 in Huntington Beach, California and grew up in Chicago and Denver. She was still in high school when she found her calling in the radio industry. Her positive energy and bigger-than-life personality entertained radio audiences for more than 20 years in Denver, Phoenix and Bellingham, Washington. She went by Laurie Michaels on the air, but that name was the only part of her that wasn’t genuine. People welcomed her into their lives every day. and she repaid them with wit, wisdom, and, most of all, laughter.
Laurie suffered a brain aneurysm in 2007 and it sent her life down a different path. But it was one she followed with the same enthusiastic, positive, and loving energy that she carried through her healthy years. She suffered immense pain through countless medical procedures, but it never dimmed her joy and love for her children, her family, her friends, her life. The many medical professionals who cared for her marveled at her ability to keep smiling through even the worst torment.
Laurie loved her pets, sunflowers, and music. But most of all she loved life. She endured incredible challenges to keep living and loving.
She is survived by her loving husband Joe Teehan, son Tommy Teehan, daughter Ella Teehan, brother Paul Johansen and many extended family members. Her parents Elmer and Jean Johansen preceded her in death.
Her family extends the most sincere and loving thanks to the many people who cared for Laurie and helped us all through times both happy and sad.
