EVERSON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom Fire District 1 is hosting a multi-agency flood response exercise this Saturday, April 27 in Everson.
The event will practice the set-up and use of the Incident Command System and run through water rescue activities. It is also being held to coordinate the response between agencies in the event of a flood.
Participants will be assigned locations around the Nooksack River in Everson, Acme and Sumas.
Residents around Lynden and near Nooksack Middle School may also notice drone pilots, emergency response boats and other volunteers during the exercise.
It’s scheduled to begin around 10 a.m. on Saturday and is expected to finish around 2 p.m. Organizers said the most noticeable traffic impact will likely be mid-morning and early afternoon while vehicles arrive and leave the scene.
