SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Police are investigating the disappearance and potential tampering of medications in Sedro-Woolley schools.

The Sedro-Woolley School District says staff discovered missing medication at an unnamed school during a routine inspection.

After expanding the review to all schools, the district says staff found that more medications were missing, along with liquid medication that appeared to have been diluted.

The district says it’s not providing any of the affected medicine to students and has already contacted the families of any students who were impacted.

It also says it will cover the cost of any replacement medications.

“We recognize the seriousness of the trust families place in us,” Superintendent Brett Greenwood said in a news release. “We are deeply sorry for the concern and uncertainty this situation has created. We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and take steps to reduce the risk of something like this happening again.”

The district is not releasing any more details due to the ongoing investigation and involvement of confidential student information.

Anyone with concerns about medications stored at Sedro-Woolley schools is encouraged to contact their school principal to set up a review.
