BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham International Airport has appointed a new leader.

The Port of Bellingham has promoted Matthew Rodriguez as their Director of Aviation, effective Friday, May 2.

Rodriguez had previously served as the Airport Operations Manager over the past five years.

“Matthew’s experience, teamwork, and comprehensive understanding of airport operations make him the ideal choice to guide BLI through its next phase of growth,” said Rob Fix, Executive Director of the Port of Bellingham.

During that time, he helped add more flights with Alaska Airlines and Allegiant Air, led capital improvement projects and made sure the airport met all federal regulations.

Some of Rodriguez’s new duties will include a multimillion-dollar runway project and air traffic control tower upgrades.

“Bellingham International Airport plays a vital role in our region’s transportation network, and I am honored to serve as the next Director of Aviation,” said Rodriguez.
