OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The state is seeking public feedback surrounding alleged violations by a Political Action Committee (PAC) backing several initiatives on Washington’s November ballot.

The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) is holding a special meeting on Oct. 3 to discuss recent charges against Let’s Go Washington.

Staff at the PDC charged Let’s Go Washington on Sept. 9 with not properly disclosing their finances in signature gathering for ballot measures among other charges.

The commission’s complaint alleges that conservative businessman Brian Heywood used his own finances as nearly the sole funding for the campaigns as a way to avoid reporting their financing. Heywood founded the PAC in an effort to roll back progressive policies in the state.

The PDC says it could fine him up to $10,000 per violation of campaign finance law that it finds.

The Oct. 3 meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and is available to stream live on TVW’s website. Public comment is being accepted through 5 p.m. on Oct. 1.
