OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The public now has a chance to give their thoughts on a faster way to travel across the Pacific Northwest.
WSDOT has opened a survey to offer feedback on the Cascadia High-Speed Rail project.
The proposed rail, which is still in early planning stages, would travel up to 250 mph to provide hour-long trips from Seattle to either Vancouver, B.C., or Portland.
WSDOT expects to release a service development plan on the project in 2028.
It won’t be clear whether the rail would stop in Bellingham, as the development plan will identify potential routes and service options, but not any station locations.
WSDOT is also seeking feedback on its I-5 Master Plan, which is a connected project that will identify ways to reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the corridor.
The survey is open through Nov. 13.
It comes as the Cascadia megaregion spanning Vancouver, B.C. to Portland is expected to grow by 3.4 million people through 2050.
