WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County is in need of skilled volunteers as the flood recovery effort progresses.

The Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group says it’s completed the initial phase of cleanup to help homes recover from the flooding.

It’s now searching for skilled volunteers to move into the next phase of work.

The group is asking for anyone with experience in HVAC, electrical, demolition or reconstruction to fill out a volunteer form on its website.

Its next work session takes place from 9 am to 5 pm on Friday.

You can find more information at whatcomstrong.com.

It comes as the IRS announced today (Tues) that it’s pushed back several tax return and payment deadlines to May 1 for anyone impacted by the flooding or extreme weather.
