BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Several local members of Congress are demanding answers following a recent ICE raid in Bellingham.
U.S. Representative Rick Larsen was among seven members of the House that expressed their concerns in a letter to leaders at ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.
The letter comes in response to an ICE operation at Mt Baker Roofing on Wednesday, April 2 that sent 37 workers to the federal detention center in Tacoma.
The representatives claim ICE officers pointed guns at the workers before taking them away in unmarked vans. They warn that those type of incidents are causing fear that leaves students and employees afraid to go to school and work, crippling small businesses.
Larsen and the representatives say they’re keeping a close watch on these cases to make sure that ICE is following the law.
They’re also calling for ICE to release more details about the workers who were arrested in Wednesday’s raid.
