SAN JUAN COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Search crews are on the lookout for a pair of missing Canadian kayakers.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office says they were contacted by the Canadian Coast Guard early on Sunday, April 21, after the two Canadians were reported missing from a tandem kayak.

United States Coast Guard crews found the kayak later that morning on Henry Island, but its occupants weren’t found.

Crews from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office searched the vicinity of Spieden and Stuart Islands without any sign of the kayakers.

Search efforts were suspended around 8 p.m.
