FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The second victim of an apartment fire in Ferndale last week has died.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, 26-year-old Sierra Johnson died on Friday, Dec. 6 due to smoke inhalation and thermal injury. Her death came one day after she was sent to Harborview Medical Center following the fire.

Johnson was found inside with one other person, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the other victim as 53-year-old Kristine Gregory, who also died of smoke inhalation.

Both deaths were ruled as accidental.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
