BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s severe weather shelter will open for the first time this season.
Whatcom County Health and Community Services announced that their N. Forest Street shelter will be open on Monday and Tuesday nights starting Dec. 9.
Check-in at the shelter is from 4-9 p.m. both nights, and guests will need to check out by 9 a.m. the following morning.
The shelter can hold up to 70 people as temperatures are expected to dip below freezing.
Lighthouse Mission Ministries’ new building on F Street will also have space for those in need.
Other area shelters have not yet decided if they will be open early next week.
