MARBLEMOUNT, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – If you’re looking for the best tasting water in our region, you’ll want to visit Skagit County’s Marblemount.
GoSkagit reports the city won the annual taste test from the American Water Works Association, beating out other North Sound water systems including Bellingham and Everett. Skagit County’s Judy Reservoir also placed third in the competition. For the blind taste test, room-temperature water was rated based on taste, odor and aftertaste.
Marblemount’s drinking water source stems from a deep, untreated groundwater well. Only about 30 households use this water.
The vote was the first stage in the competition to find the nation’s best tasting water, with the next step coming May 1, when Marblemount’s water will go up against 10 to 15 other water systems across Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
Marblemount will look to be the first Washington town to take first in the nation since 2014 when the winning entry came from the city of Kalama.
