BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Ski to Sea has sold out for the first time in over 10 years.

Organizers for the race made the announcement on Friday, saying they were “shocked” that it sold out so soon.

The last time the race sold all 500 entries was in 2011, though organizers note last year’s was close with 485 participants.

Teams that have not yet chosen their name and division must do so by April 19. The deadline to be guaranteed a t-shirt is April 30. Racers who don’t register ahead of that deadline will receive a beanie if their preferred shirt size isn’t available.

The race’s organizers have created a “low snow” contingency plan after forecasters warned about a very low snowpack this winter. Organizers say they plan to update racers on April 5 with their backup plan for the racecourse and routes. They also plan to decide by April 26 on whether they will use that backup plan or remain with the original course.
