SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Starbucks is the latest company to crack down on remote workers.

Bloomberg reports that the Seattle-based coffee giant sent out a memo to corporate staff saying they could be fired if they don’t follow an upcoming return-to-office mandate.

Starting in January, employees who work at the Starbucks Support Center will be required to work from the office at least three days a week.

A spokesperson for Starbucks confirmed the report to KOMO, but pushed back on any threats to its staff, saying the company has offered a “significant transition period.” The memo follows Amazon’s similar mandate that will require employees to work from the office five days a week for the new year as well.

It’s a change from the current three-day-a-week policy that’s been in effect since spring 2023.
