OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington has joined a bloc of state administrations in their support to law firms they say are targeted by Trump’s executive orders.

The Attorney General’s office says that AG Nick Brown has filed two amicus briefs on behalf of law firms in their fight against Trump’s executive orders.

The office adds the law firms are fighting the orders that were issued in retaliation for their work that Trump opposes politically.

Brown joins 21 other state Attorney Generals in filing the amicus briefs in the U.S. District Court of District of Columbia.

The executive orders require federal officials to suspend security clearances for the firms’ workers, refuse to engage with or hire employees from the firms and deny the firms entry to federal buildings.

The orders also sought to terminate contracts between agencies and the firms according to AG Brown’s office.

Brown and the coalition say that lawyers should not fear retribution for willing to work on controversial cases or represent unpopular clients.
