OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – With two weeks left in the legislative session, state lawmakers are moving ahead with a handful of bills for final votes in Olympia.
In total, 50 bills were approved to head to a final Chamber vote Monday, including measures to combat child marriage and the fentanyl crisis.
The rest that were cut includes HB 2114, which would’ve forced landlords statewide to cap rent increases at 7%.
Another bill would’ve made clergy members responsible for reporting suspected child sex abuse.
And a measure that would’ve moved elections to even-numbered years also got the axe.
Supporters of that bill argued that voter turnout would increase if passed.
In addition to the bills moving ahead, state lawmakers are continuing discussions on raising the state budget by $2 million.
