MOUNT BAKER SKI AREA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Mount Baker Ski Area has been looking forward to this week’s storms and they did not disappoint.

The ski area received over two and a half feet of new snow in the last 24 hours and it is still snowing.

That is on top of a couple of feet that fell over the weekend.

Currently, they are reporting a snow base of 108 inches at Heather Meadows and 130 inches on Pan Dome.

The new snow is certainly welcome, but skiers and snowboarders are advised to be aware of deep snow and tree well hazards and to keep up to date on avalanche conditions.

Also, be prepared for winter driving conditions on the Mount Baker Highway.
