BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a stranger in Bellingham with several weapons.

Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters said the suspect is accused of ramming a shopping cart into a woman while she was walking on Harris Avenue Thursday. The force of the assault knocked the woman to the ground.

A man who was with her pushed the suspect onto the ground in an effort to separate the two. The suspect got up, pulled out a knife and a screwdriver and threatened to kill both victims.

A witness was able to deescalate the situation before anyone was hurt.

The suspect, 66-year-old Saint Cardinal, was later located and taken into custody.
