BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Student workers at Western Washington University held a march to demand equal recognition for their respective unions.

Operational and Educational Student Employees delivered letters in-person to the Office of the President and the head of Human Resources earlier this afternoon.

Educational student workers bargained for and received an initial contract between their union and the university last May. But they claim that the school is violating terms of the contract by having members work in excess of their listed duties.

Meanwhile, Operational Student Employees are pleading with the university to recognize their union’s existence.

They’re hoping to have their union formally certified this spring.
