BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man accused of fatally shooting a woman is now facing additional charges stemming from another shooting.

The suspect, 35-year-old Shilo Englert, has been in custody since the death of Kasaundra Booker. Booker’s body was found in the stairwell of a N State St building on Feb. 8, 2022.

Court documents filed earlier this month state that Englert was suspected of prowling and stealing items from a patio in Aug. 2021. When confronted by a resident, Englert pulled out a gun and shot the man in the leg before running off.

Officers later found a car with the keys in the ignition that contained stolen property and identification belonging to Englert. Police learned that the car had been stolen from Ferndale that morning.

Englert has an additional three cases pending in Whatcom County Superior Court, including unlawful possession of firearms, driving with a suspended license, and drug charges. His trial in the murder case is set for late April.
