CENTRALIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – We’ve all heard about fleeing police by car or on-foot, but what about by kayak?
WSP released aerial video footage Thursday wherein a man used a stolen kayak in an attempt to evade police in Lewis County.
KOMO reports that Centralia police originally responded to a stolen vehicle report on June 6. Officers later that day pulled over the stolen vehicle, but the 39-year-old man refused to exit the car, instead driving to a nearby wooded area and fleeing on foot into the brush.
They tracked the man to the Chehalis River and a Centralia police drone caught sight of a man running with a blue kayak toward the river. The man used the kayak to travel down the river, but he eventually ran aground, and police apprehended the man after he attempted to escape on foot once more.
Smokey assisted Centralia PD in apprehending a suspect who fled on foot from a stolen car they were driving to a nearby river. The scallywag then stole a kayak from a home and took to the high seas…
