SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Take caution if you plan on cooling off at the beach in Skagit County.

The Washington State Department of Ecology has issued a swimming advisory for the beaches at Bay View State Park. It was announced on Friday, July 18 after high levels of fecal bacteria turned up during routine water sampling.

The public is being advised to avoid any contact with water in the area until further notice.

Contact with fecal contaminated waters can cause skin rashes, respiratory infections and other illnesses, especially in children.
