BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A major cell phone carrier is closing one of its stores in Bellingham.

According to a filing with the Washington state Employment Security Department, T-Mobile is permanently laying off 77 workers starting on Sept. 21 and lasting through Nov. 18.

The layoffs are taking place across the state, but the company has not responded to requests for comment on exactly how many are taking place in Bellingham.

T-Mobile said in the filing that it plans to close its location on Bakerview and I-5 near Costco. There are also an unknown amount of layoffs taking place at its call center on Bakerview near Bellis Fair Mall, though the location will remain open.

Overall, the affected jobs range from directors and managers to account support and retail sales positions.

According to the filing, some of the affected employees have been offered the chance to relocate.

T-Mobile says it has or will provide those impacted with at least sixty days advance notice.
