The Kraken have parted ways with one of their top earners.
The team placed goaltender Philipp Grubauer on waivers today following their 6-4 loss to Anaheim.
It was Grubhauer’s fifth straight loss and he’s allowed at least three goals in each of those starts.
He currently owns the lowest save percentage in the NHL and has the most goals scored against him on average.
In contrast, the Kraken’s other goaltender Joey Daccord ranks among the best in the league in each of those categories.
The Associated Press reports that Grubauer is now expected to land with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds.
He still has two years left on his contract after this season and has the fifth-highest cap hit of any player on the team.
The Kraken are back in action tomorrow night to host the San Jose Sharks.
Former Seahawk Russell Wilson has been named to his 10th Pro Bowl.
He was selected as a replacement today for Buffalo’s Josh Allen on the AFC’s roster.
It’s Wilson’s first appearance in the game since his last season with Seattle in 2021.
The 36-year-old went 6-5 in his first season with the Steelers, throwing 16 touchdowns with 5 interceptions.
Wilson is now hitting free agency and several reports have indicated that he could reunite with his former coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas.
A new signing by the Mariners has fans seeing double.
The MLB Network reports the M’s signed Luis Felipe Castillo to a minor league contract yesterday.
The 29-year-old right hander shares a name with Seattle’s 3x All-Star pitcher Luis Miguel Castillo.
Both Castillos are natives of the Dominican Republic.
The start of their season is just ahead, with pitchers and catchers set to report on Feb. 12 before spring training begins on Feb. 20.
A familiar face is returning to the Seattle Sounders.
The club announced yesterday that it signed South Korean defender Kim Kee-hee through the 2025 season with an option for 2026.
Kim was a part of the Sounders’ 2019 MLS Cup-winning team.
Coach Brian Schmetzer says the addition will give the club a smart, veteran defender whose familiarity with the team will make for a seamless fit into their system.
