The Seattle Mariners’ eventful offseason continued yesterday.
The M’s received Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco in exchange for pitchers Anthony DeSclafani and Justin Topa, minor leaguers Gabriel Gonzalez and Darren Bowen, and cash considerations.
The 30-year-old Polanco made an All-Star game with the Twins in 2019 before hitting 33 HR’s and 98 RBIs in 2021.
He played just 80 games last season with a few different injuries.
The Mariners didn’t stop there though.
They followed up by trading for Kansas City Royals utility man Samad Taylor for a player to be named or cash.
Taylor spent most of last year in Triple-A, where he stole 43 bases.
The Seattle Kraken are playing their last game before the All-Star break.
They’re in San Jose facing off against the league-worst Sharks.
San Jose has been outscored by 93 goals this season, over 20 more than the next-closest team.
Seattle won the last meeting 7-1.
The Kraken will get an extended 10-day break after tonight’s game before embarking on an East Coast road trip.
