The Seahawks are battling for the NFC West against their division rival 49ers tonight on Thursday Night Football.

It’s Seattle’s third game in just 11 days.

Their 3-0 start to the season has been followed by back-to-back losses to the Lions and Giants.

They’ll look to balance out an offense that leads the league in pass attempts and ranks last in rush attempts.

On defense, the Seahawks will be missing at least three starters with Riq Woolen, Byron Murphy and Uchenna Nwosu all ruled out.

Nwosu was just placed on the injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss at least their next four games.

Meanwhile, San Francisco sits just a game behind Seattle for the division lead despite losing three of their last four games.

A key Mariner is revealed to have been playing hurt throughout the season.

Sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan that M’s second baseman Jorge Polanco has undergone surgery to repair the patellar tendon in his left knee.

He’s expected to be ready by the end of spring training.

Polanco has struggled with knee pain in recent years and when it became more of a problem last season, sources say he tried to play through it.

He went on to hit a career-low batting average of .213 with a career high 137 strikeouts in his first season with Seattle.

Polanco’s future with the Mariners is currently unknown.

The team holds a $12 million club option with a $750,000 buyout and has to decide whether to pick it up in early November.

 

Speaking of the MLB, the Mets are the first team to advance to the Final Four in the playoffs.

They beat the Phillies 4-1 yesterday to win the series 3 games to 1 and move on to the NLCS.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers beat the Padres to force a deciding Game 5 tomorrow night.

In the American League, the Tigers and Yankees each hold a 2-1 lead with a chance to clinch their respective series’ today.

 

It’s a big night for Western Washington University athletics.

The men’s soccer team is playing its GNAC conference home opener against Northwest Nazarene.

It’s Whatcom FC Rangers and Whatcom Youth Soccer Night, so anyone wearing a youth jersey can get in for free.

The Viks are looking to get their first win in nearly a month after two ties and two losses.

The women’s soccer team is in Ellensburg tonight for a match against Central Washington.

The Lady Viks are unbeaten in their last four games and are beginning to salvage a season that saw them start out 1-2-2. 

Both games start at 7:00.

Meanwhile, the Vikings’ volleyball team is hosting rival Seattle Pacific.

Western is riding a four-match winning streak and hasn’t lost a set in nearly three weeks.

Their match also begins at 7 pm from Carver Gym.
