The Kraken are hoping to end their first road trip of the season on a high note tonight.

They’re in Nashville for a game against the 0-2 Predators.

The Kraken won their first game of the road trip on Saturday in a thrilling 5-4 shootout win over the Wild.

But they went on to fumble Sunday’s game to the Stars after allowing the only two goals of the game within the span of 14 seconds.

New coach Dan Bylsma and the team are now looking to even their record up to 2-2 heading back to Seattle.

A Bellingham native made his triumphant return to the NFL last night.

Sehome High School alum Taylor Rapp led the Buffalo Bills with 8 tackles and three passes defended in their 23-20 win over the New York Jets.

Two of the plays saved touchdowns and another one prevented the Jets from moving the chains late in the game.

Rapp sported the league’s new guardian cap as a precaution in his first game back since suffering a concussion.

The sixth-year safety also played three seasons for the Washington Huskies.

 

The Seahawks are down another player on defense.

The team placed veteran cornerback Artie Burns on the injured reserve with a toe injury he suffered in Thursday’s loss to the 49ers.

The 29-year-old Burns was signed off Seattle’s practice squad just before the game to help a banged-up secondary.

Starter Riq Woolen missed the game with an ankle injury and fellow corner Tre Brown left midway into the game with another ankle injury.

Today’s announcement comes after the team placed Uchenna Nwosu on the injured reserve just a few days ago, meaning both him and Burns will miss at least the next four games.

 

The Mariners’ season may be over, but two of their players could be in line for some postseason recognition.

Cal Raleigh and Dylan Moore were each named as finalists for the American League’s Gold Glove award today, the league’s top defensive honor.

It’s Raleigh’s second nomination after being a finalist in 2022.

He led all catchers with 26 runners caught stealing and 1,122 innings caught this year.

Moore, meanwhile, is a first-time nominee.

The utility man made appearances at six different positions.

Award winners for each respective position will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said today that Russ is in consideration to start this weekend in the Steelers’ Sunday night game against the Jets.

The 35-year-old former Seahawk has spent the past six weeks recovering from a calf injury he aggravated a few days before the season opener.

Justin Fields has led the Steelers to a 4-2 record in his place.

 

A local athlete is being honored after pulling off an incredible feat in a recent soccer game.

Western Washington University senior Lydia Myers was chosen as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week yesterday following a two-win week for the Vikings.

Myers jump-started the week with a four-goal performance in last Thursday’s 7-1 win over Central Washington.

It was just the third time in conference history where that’s been done.

The Lady Viks have turned their season around after starting out 1-2-2.

They’re unbeaten in their last six matches and now own a 5-2-4 record heading into this Thursday’s home matchup against MSU Billings.
