The Sounders kicked off the MLS Playoffs in thrilling fashion last night.
Alex Roldan scored the decisive goal in a 5-4 shootout win over the Houston Dynamo to give Seattle a 1-0 lead in the opening round of the playoffs.
It came after goalkeepers Stefan Frei and Steve Clark dueled to a scoreless draw in regulation.
Frei was not tested the whole rainy night at Lumen Field and finished without a save in his shutout effort.
The Sounders, who joined the league in 2009, have never lost a home match to the Dynamo.
They’re in Houston this Sunday for Game 2 of the best-of-three series, with a chance to advance to the conference semifinals.
The Kraken are trying to put a stop to their losing streak tonight.
Seattle is up north facing the Montreal Canadians in the first match of their five game road trip.
It comes after three straight home losses for the Kraken that made them fall to 4-4-1 on the young season.

Following this weekend’s games, 32 teams from across the state will be seeded for the new Week 10 play-in bracket that will send 16 of them to the state tournament.
In Class 1A, Nooksack Valley and Lynden Christian have each clinched their spot in the postseason.
Meridian needs to beat Blaine on Thursday to join them as the third team from the Northwest Conference.
But if Blaine wins, that could set up a three-way tie between the two teams and Mount Baker if the Mountaineers win on Thursday.
In that case, the three teams would face off in a mini-playoff.
Nooksack Valley, Lynden Christian and the third team that makes it out of the conference will then be reseeded in a 24 team play-in bracket that will send 12 teams to the state tournament.
Over in Class 3A, Ferndale needs a win against Shorewood on Friday in order to have a chance at making the 32 team play-in bracket.
Both of Western Washington University’s cross country teams are GNAC champions.
The Vikings’ men’s and women’s teams swept the team titles at the final conference meet last Saturday at Sudden Valley Golf Course.
Senior Jeret Gillingham finished first with an 8k time of 24 minutes and 18 seconds – less than five minutes per mile.
Western has now swept the GNAC titles in each of the past three seasons.
They’ll have a chance to advance to the national championships in the upcoming NCAA West Regional meet on Nov. 9 in Billings, MT.
And Western basketball is officially back for tonight’s Viking Jam at Carver Gym.
Fans will get a chance to meet the men’s and women’s teams at the free event, which starts at 7 p.m.
It will include a dunk contest, 3-point shooting contest, intersquad scrimmage and so much more.
