The voice of the Mariners could be calling games from across the country next season.

The New York Post reports that Dave Sims is nearing a deal to be the Yankees’ new play-by-play announcer.

The 71-year-old Sims has covered Seattle games since 2007 and won three straight Washington Sportscaster of the Year awards from 2018 to 2020.

He’d be replacing the legendary John Sterling, who called Yankees games for 35 years and returned to call New York’s most recent postseason run.

It would be a return to the Big Apple for Sims, who co-hosted a sports talk show on WFAN in the early 90’s.

Sources tell the Post that the deal has not yet been finalized.

The Huskies’ basketball team rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to beat Seattle Pacific 77-62 last night.

Great Osobor and DJ Davis each scored 18 points in the win.

Washington trailed 38-27 at the end of the first half, but scored 50 points in the second compared to just 24 for SPU.

The Huskies improved to 2-1 on the season and will host UMass Lowell on Sunday night.

DK Metcalf is likely to make his return this Sunday.

The star receiver has missed the Seahawks’ past two games with an MCL sprain, but was a full participant in practice yesterday.

Coach Mike Macdonald says he’s optimistic about DK’s chances to play against the 49ers, but hasn’t confirmed anything.

Right tackle Abraham Lucas was a limited participant as he looks to make his season debut on Sunday.
