The Mariners announced some major changes to their coaching staff today.

Edger Martinez – who had ended the 2024 season as Seattle’s hitting coach – is returning in an expanded role to oversee the team’s hitting program.

The M’s are also hiring Kevin Seitzer as their new hitting coach to replace Martinez.

Seitzer previously served as hitting coach with the Atlanta Braves.

Finally, Manny Acta is returning to Seattle as its new bench coach under manager Dan Wilson.

He previously served as the club’s bench coach under Scott Servais and, most recently, was their third base coach.

The Kraken snapped their road woes with a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks last night.

Seattle trailed 2-1 entering the third period, but Andre Burakovsky and Brandon Montour scored 24 seconds apart early in the period to secure the win.

It was the Kraken’s eighth straight win over the Ducks and ended their five-game road losing streak.

They’ll look to continue their dominance over Anaheim in a rematch at Climate Pledge tomorrow.

The Seahawks will face Aaron Rodgers on Sunday despite questions surrounding his long-term future with the Jets.

New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed yesterday that Rodgers will “absolutely” start and said there has been no internal discussion about shutting him down for the remainder of the season.

It comes as Rodgers, who just turned 41, said today that he’s unsure about playing in 2025.

The 3-8 Jets have lost seven of their last eight games and are on the verge of playoff elimination.

They entered the season with high expectations, but have since fired their coach and general manager.

The Seahawks are looking to win their third straight game when they travel out East to face the Jets on Sunday morning.

The Huskies’ women’s basketball team came up just short in their upset bid yesterday.

Washington fell to 7th nationally ranked LSU 68-67 after a layup with 1.6 seconds left gave the Tigers the lead.

Huskies sophomore guard Sayvia Sellers led all scorers with 24 points.

They now fall to 6-2 on the season with a home matchup against #1 UCLA looming.

Checking in on former Nooksack Valley star Devin Coppinger, she’s averaging 4 points per game along with nearly 2 rebounds in seven games during her freshman season with the Huskies.

She’s also shooting an impressive 6-15 from 3-point range.

Speaking of college basketball, Western Washington’s men’s team is hosting Douglas College tonight.

The 5-1 Vikings had their only loss come on a half-court buzzer beater against Westminster last week.

Western rebounded to blowout Northwest University 96-65 on Saturday.

Reigning GNAC Freshman of the Year Tijan Saine has excelled so far this season, leading the team with 18 pointers per game.

Sehome High School product Grant Kepley has added 15 points per game to the mix as a redshirt freshman.

Tonight’s game tips off at 7 p.m. from Carver Gym.

And the Vikings’ cross country team brought home a pair of top 15 finishes at nationals.

The Western women placed 11th and the men finished 13th at the NCAA D-II National Championships on Saturday.

All-American junior Ashley Reeck finished 33rd overall to help the Vikings lead all schools from the West Region.

Senior Jeret Gillingham placed 48th overall to lead the Viking men to their highest finish in ten years.
