The Kraken ended their road trip with a loss last night to push their losing streak to four games.

Seattle fell to the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 to head back home on a low note.

Jared McCann opened the second period with a score to tie the game at 2-2, but the Avalanche piled on four of the next five goals to take the win and end a three-game skid of their own.

The Kraken have now lost seven of their last eight matches and sit near the bottom of their division with a 5-8-1 record.

They’re back at Climate Pledge on Friday against Las Vegas to kick off a six-game homestand.

The first College Football Playoff rankings have been released and Washington State made its mark.

Wazzu is off to a 7-1 start to the season, including a tight Apple Cup win over the Huskies.

The NFL trade deadline has passed and the Seahawks stood pat, despite receiving interest for a key offensive threat.

ESPN reported that Seattle got several calls for DK Metcalf, but had no plans to deal him.

An injured knee has kept Metcalf out of their past two games, but Coach Mike Macdonald has expressed optimism that he’ll return after their bye against San Francisco.

The Huskies’ basketball team opened its season with a win last night.

Washington beat UC Davis 79-73 in Coach Danny Sprinkle’s debut with the team.

Sprinkle came to Washington after having spent just a year at Utah State where he helped lead the Aggies to the Mountain West Conference title and an appearance in the round of 32 at the NCAA Tournament.

He also brought a standout transfer with him in Great Osobor, who led the team with 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in the win.

Next up for the Huskies is a road game against Nevada on Saturday.

It’s also nearly opening day for Western Washington University basketball.

The men begin their season at home on Friday against Cal State Dominguez Hills for the West Region Crossover at Carver Gym.

The new-look Vikings lost a good group of players to the transfer portal, including two starters.

But they’ll feature former Lynden star Anthony Canales who set a school record for career points while leading the Lions to three state titles.

The Vikings were picked to finish sixth in the GNAC in the preseason coaches’ poll and feature a pair of preseason all-conference selections in Will Wilson and reigning GNAC Freshman of the Year Tijan Saine.

Meanwhile, the women’s team opens their season in Carson, CA for the West Region Crossover.

They’re also facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday.

The Lady Viks were picked to finish first in the GNAC in the preseason coach’s poll and feature a pair of preseason all-conference selections in guards Mason Oberg and Olivia Wikstrom.
