The Seahawks won their fourth straight game yesterday to extend their lead in the NFC West.

Seattle beat the Arizona Cardinals 30-18 thanks to a career-high 134 rushing yards by Zach Charbonnet.

Charbonnet thrived in his increased role while taking over for the injured starter Kenneth Walker.

He scored two touchdowns and Geno Smith threw another to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the win.

The Seahawks’ defense showed up yet again against the Cardinals and got interceptions on back-to-back passes by Kyler Murray in a key sequence in the first quarter.

It was Seattle’s second win over the Cards in the past two weeks.

The Seahawks now own an 8-5 record and a one-game lead over the Rams for first place in the NFC West.

They’ll look to push their win streak to five at home next weekend in a Sunday night showdown against the Packers.

The Huskies and Cougs both have their bowl game matches set.

Washington State will play #22 nationally ranked Syracuse in the DirecTV Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 27.

Meanwhile, Washington has a date with Louisville for the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl in El Paso on New Year’s Eve.

The announcements came after the 12-team field for the College Football Playoff was announced yesterday.

Notre Dame will host Indiana, Penn State will host SMU, Texas will host Clemson and Ohio State will host Tennessee in the first round of the newly-expanded postseason tournament.

Conference championship winners Oregon, George, Boise State and Arizona State will all get first round byes.

The Anacortes Seahawks are State 2A football champions for the second year in a row.

They beat Tumwater 20-10 on Saturday for their second state football title in program history, both coming against Tumwater.

It was a gutsy defensive effort against a previously undefeated Tumwater team that had averaged over 50 points per game entering the match.

The back-to-back state champs in Anacortes end the season with a 13-1 record.

An MLB superstar made history by inking a massive contract over the weekend.

Outfielder Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets on a 15-year, $765 million contract last night.

It’s the largest deal in professional sports history, beating the $700 million contract signed by Shoei Ohtani and the Dodgers last winter.

It’s also the longest contract ever.

The 26-year-old Soto hit .288 with 41 home runs and 109 RBI last season to finish third in American League MVP voting and help lead the Yankees to a World Series appearance.

He’ll look to help a Mets club that fell to the Dodgers in the NLCS.

The Kraken ended their East Coast road trip with a high-scoring win last night.

They beat the New York Rangers 7-5 in their fourth and final game before returning to Climate Pledge.

The Rangers held a 3-1 lead halfway into the second period, but the Kraken exploded to score five unanswered goals to give them the edge.

Oliver Bjorkstrand led the effort with two goals and two assists.

The win helped Seattle even up its record to 14-14-1, good for 10th place in the Western Conference.

They’re back at home tomorrow night to host the defending champion Florida Panthers.
