The Seattle Kraken ended their East Coast road trip with a statement win last night on KPUG.
They beat the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins 4-1.
The Bruins scored the first goal of the game, but four different Kraken answered with goals to secure the victory.
Kraken center Matty Beniers had a goal and two assists in the win.
The faltering Bruins have lost three straight and four of their last five games.
The Kraken will look to win their third straight game on Monday as they host the Detroit Red Wings in the first of a six-game homestand.
Several Washington athletes were honored at the 89th annual Sports Star of the Year Awards show last night.
Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. won the award for Men’s Sports Star of the Year.
Seattle Storm guard and WNBA leading scorer Jewell Loyd won the Women’s Sports Star of the Year Award.
UW’s football team took home the award for Sports Story of the Year.
Seattle Reign FC head coach Laura Harvey won Sports Leader of the Year after taking the OL Reign to the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs in 2023.
The Pac-12 is parting ways with Commissioner George Kliavkoff following the demise of the once-powerful league amid conference realignment.
The Pac-12 Board of Directors announced the move today, saying the two parties “mutually agreed to part ways, effective February 29.”
Kliavkoff was hired in 2021, but failed to land the league a new media rights deal in a major blow to the Pac-12’s competition with other Power Five conferences.
The Board of Directors say more details about new leadership of the Pac-12 will be announced next week.
The Washington Huskies men’s basketball team blew out Stanford last night on KGMI.
Koren Johnson scored a career-high 30 points off the bench in the Huskies’ 85-65 win over the Cardinal.
Keion Brooks Jr. added 20 points in the effort.
The Huskies will host California tomorrow in hopes of winning their third straight.

Western Washington University’s men’s team didn’t have as much luck last night.
They fell to Alaska Fairbanks 94-82.
Kai Johnson led all players with 26 points on 10-14 shooting as the top scorer in the conference.
The Vikings now fall to 14-11 overall and 6-8 in GNAC play.
They’re still sitting in a 6th-place tie for the final spot in the conference tournament next month.

The fourth-seeded Sehome girls beat Burlington-Edison 59-46 to extend the Mariners’ season.
They now move on to face second-seeded Archbishop Murphy tomorrow evening with a spot in the state tournament on the line.
That game tips off at 5:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon High School.
Meanwhile, the third-seeded Anacortes boys edged Lakewood 63-60 to move on to a loser-out game against second-seeded Cedarcrest tomorrow evening.
Coming up tonight…
The second-seeded Nooksack Valley boys are playing third-seeded Meridian for a spot in the state tournament.
Both teams have beaten each other this season, most recently with Meridian taking a tight 67-62 win over Nooksack last week in the 1A district bracket.
There’s even more history between the two schools, as Nooksack Valley has sent Meridian home in each of the last two seasons.
