The Seahawks have made more changes to their coaching staff.

ESPN reports that Seattle is expected to hire Andrew Janocko as its quarterbacks coach and John Benton as their offensive lines coach.

Both held the same positions with new OC Klint Kubiak in New Orleans last season.

Benon replaces former UW Huskies coach Scott Huff as the Seahawks’ new leader of their o-line unit.

Meanwhile, ESPN reports that former Seahawks OC Ryan Grubb is joining Kalen DeBoer at Alabama in a reunion between the two former UW coaches.

Today’s coaching carousel continued with major changes at the University of Washington.

Their former offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll announced this morning that he is leaving the Huskies to join his father Pete on the Las Vegas Raiders’ coaching staff.

Shortly after the news broke, the Huskies announced that they’ve promoted Jimmie Dougherty to OC.

Dougherty spent the 2024 season as UW’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

He followed Jedd Fisch to UW last year after spending three seasons with him at Arizona.

The Kraken couldn’t complete a late-game rally and fell to the Calgary Flames 3-2 last night.

The Flames came out hot with three unanswered goals in the first period.

Kaapo Kakko and Brandon Tanev each scored to bring Seattle within one, but they couldn’t manage another goal and lost the third of their last four matches.

Early-game struggles continued for the Kraken, who have allowed the second-most first period goals in the NHL.

They’ll look to rebound tomorrow night when they host the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth of a five-game homestand.

A pair of blockbuster trades broke the NBA community over the weekend.

In a stunning turn of events, the Dallas Mavericks sent Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis on Saturday night.

The 25-year-old Doncic is coming off a Finals appearance and currently owns the third-highest career average for points per game in league history.

One day later, the Sacramento Kings sent De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team deal.

The trade also sent Bothell High School product Zach LaVine from Chicago to Sacramento and former Gonzaga standout Zach Collins from San Antonio to Chicago.

Western Washington University’s softball team struggled in its season-opening weekend.

The Viks dropped four of their five games at the CUI Kickoff Classic in Irvine, CA.

Ironically, their sole win came against their only ranked opponent, a 7-2 victory over #15 Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Sophomore third baseman Maleah Andrews was a bright spot, hitting .533 with four doubles and a homer to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Western entered the weekend as the #2 ranked team in the country, but already have as many losses as they did in mid-April of last season.

The Viks have a nearly two-week break before they’ll look to rebound in the six-game Hawai’i Invitational tournament in Honolulu.

Both Western basketball teams found more success over the weekend.

The men edged Alaska Fairbanks 89-84 on Saturday to win their sixth straight game.

Tijan Saine and Will Wilson combined for 45 points in the win.

The Lady Viks blew out Western Oregon 82-61 for their third straight win.

Former Lynden Christian standout Demi Dykstra led the team with 17 points and five assists.

She was just named GNAC Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 25 points in their previous game against Saint Martin’s.
