The Kraken are wrapping up their homestand tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Seattle will look to hit the road on a high note after losing four of their last five matches.

They’re coming off a tight shootout loss over the Red Wings.

It will be a chance for the Kraken to even the score after the Maple Leafs beat them 4-1 earlier this season.

But they’ll have to contain right wing William Nylander, who’s scored the second most goals in the NHL, including two against Seattle in their previous matchup.

Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KGMI.

The Seahawks have taken a big step to fix their salary cap woes this offseason.

Over The Cap reports that Pro Bowl defensive lineman Leonard Williams has agreed to restructure his contract, which will free up roughly $14 million in cap space.

As part of the deal, Seattle converted nearly $19 million of Williams’ salary to a bonus and added two void years to his contract.

The Seahawks are now roughly $13.4 million over the cap, which is still the third-highest in the league, but a big drop from previously being $27.5 million over.

NFL players aren’t a fan of expanding the season to 18 games.

NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell says he’s talked to players over the past two seasons and claims “no one” wants to add an additional game to the season.

It comes after league commissioner Roger Goodell has hinted that the expansion is inevitable, though he admits there’s “a lot of work to be done.”

The two sides haven’t had formal discussions about expanding the season, which would require renegotiating the collective bargaining agreement.

A major domino has fallen in MLB free agency.

First baseman Pete Alonso is returning to the New York Mets on a two-year, $54 million contract.

The 30-year-old has hit 226 home runs since his debut in 2019, the second most in the majors.

ESPN reports the Mets considered pivoting from Alonso early on, but talks resumed after he didn’t receive offers for the long-term contract he was seeking.

Alonso delivered the biggest hit of the season for the Mets last year, with a go-ahead 3-run home run that sent them out of the wild card round against the Brewers.

He went on to hit three more homers on their run to the NLCS, where they fell to the eventual World Series champion Dodgers.

The Huskies men dropped a double-digit lead at halftime and fell to Nebraska 86-72 last night.

Washington led 47-37 at the half, but Nebraska stormed back in the second half and nearly doubled their score.

Junior guard Mekhi Mason led the Huskies with 23 points in the loss.

It was the third straight win for the Cornhuskers.

Meanwhile, the Huskies women took an 82-71 road win over Penn State.

Junior Hannah Stines scored 28 to help UW snap a three-game skid.

Both teams from Western Washington University are gearing up to continue their red-hot play tonight.

The men’s and women’s Viks are riding a combined 9-game win streak.

The men are hosting Montana State Billings tonight with a chance to win their 7th straight.

They’ve rebounded after losing their first five conference games, but a win tonight could send them into third place in the GNAC standings.

Tonight’s game tips off at 7:00 from Carver Gym.

Meanwhile, the Lady Viks are in Ellensburg to face Central Washington.

The Western women have won three straight and have a lot riding on tonight’s game.

Both teams are currently tied for third place in the GNAC standings and the winner could shoot into second.

Former Lynden Christian standout Demi Dykstra will look to keep up her exceptional play as of late after being named GNAC Player of the Week.

Tonight’s game tips off at 5:15.
