Brandon Montour netted the fastest-ever goal in overtime when he scored just four seconds into OT.
It was his second goal of the game and lifted Seattle to a 5-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
The winning goal matches the fastest to start any period in NHL history, with three players doing it in regulation.
Montour’s first goal helped the Kraken get off to an early 2-0 lead, but the Canadiens surged ahead and scored four unanswered goals to give them a 2-score lead midway through the third period.
Jani Nyman and Matty Benier went on to score a pair of goals both on power plays to send it into extra time before Montour delivered the lightning-fast win.
It was an exciting start to the Kraken’s brief homestand,which continues tomorrow night against the Utah Hockey Club in their inaugural season.
