The Mariners racked up another spring training win yesterday.

They beat the Texas Rangers 9-5 to get their fourth victory in five games

Tyson Miller threw a pair of shutout innings in the start.

Dominic Canzone added a home run to highlight a strong offensive display for the M’s.

J.P. Crawford added two hits and two RBI’s.

Seattle now improves to 10-13 in Cactus League play.

They’re back at it against the Colorado Rockies this afternoon.

We won’t be airing that game though, instead it will be the first two First Four games of the NCAA Basketball Tournament with coverage for Howard vs. Wagner starting at 3:30 p.m. on KPUG.

After that, it’s 10 seeds Colorado State and Virginia battling for a spot in the Big Dance.

The Kraken suffered another blow to their playoff hopes last night.

Seattle lost to the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 to push their losing streak to five games.

Jordan Eberle scored the opening goal of the game, but the Sabres responded with six of the next seven goals to put the Kraken away.

Jeff Skinner had a hat trick in the win for Buffalo.

Seattle now drops to 28-27-12 on the season.

They’re 11 points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for the final playoff spot in the West with just 15 games to go.

The Kraken are off for a few days before beginning a brief road trip against the Knights on Thursday.

A pair of teams from Washington are headlining college basketball’s newest postseason tournament.

The Washington State women earned a No. 1 seed in the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament, or WBIT, after missing the national tournament.

The NCAA is sponsoring it as the equivalent to the men’s NIT.

It features 32 teams, with all games being played on campus sites until the Final Four in Indianapolis.

The top-seeded Cougs will host Lamar University at 6 p.m. this Thursday.

The University of Washington women earned a two seed in the tournament.

They’ll host Georgetown at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

And the Western Washington University basketball season may be over, but one Viking is still racking up accolades.

Junior Kai Johnson was named to the First Team All-West Region yesterday.

He becomes the 10th Vikings men’s player to receive the honor.

Johnson led the GNAC and the West Region with 21.6 points per game on 52% efficiency last season.

His 627 points scored were the fourth most in program history.
